Ever feel like the Cowardly Lion when you are preparing to make phone calls to your customers? Or how about when you are called to a meeting with your child’s teacher, or when you are asked to make a presentation at work? Or what about when the doctor’s office calls with test results that are not good? Your knees knock and your liver may quiver, but you have to face it, anyway. Where do you look for a dose of courage?

When you get your Cowardly Lion moments, you’re not the only one who knows. God knows. He’s been there all along, and He’s not planning on leaving you in the midst of your liver quiver moments. God has been through plenty of knee knockers with others. Remember Joseph thrown into a pit at the hands of his brothers, or Moses standing before Pharaoh demanding he free the slaves. How about Joshua as he stood looking at the fortified city of Jericho wondering how they were going to conquer such an enormous foe. Remember Esther who stood before the king to expose his best friend as a liar, or Daniel who was thrown into a lion’s den by his boss. Remember Mary who had to tell her fiancé and family that she was pregnant even though she was a virgin.

Each of these faced moments where knees could knock and livers could quiver. But God met each of them at their shakiest moments and provided the courage they needed! God will do the same for you. As God told Joshua when he was facing what seemed impossible,

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9

Courage – just in time, every time.
